By far the most the prevalent conditions in general population are anxiety and depression. These common mental health problems are placing a formidable financial burden on many of the world's national economies, and significant proportion of that burden is being attributed to lost work productivity (Thomas & Morris, 2003). The business cost associated with employee distress is substantial. Such cost stem from staff turnover, elevated sickness absence rates, and reduced output found among distressed workers. Presenteeism is also attracting considerable interest from occupational health researchers. Presenteeism occurs when employees appear at work but unable to function at their full or usual capacity due to symptoms of ill health. Moreover, there is some evidence to suggest that presenteeism is more common among white collar and professional (hence more highly paid) occupational groups. This course focuses on how to achieve psychological well-being for work performance.
