    - Rapport And Communication At The Unconscious Level

    Ever heard of this song, "When You Say Nothing At All"?

    The start goes like this:

    It's amazing how you
    Can speak right to my heart.
    Without saying a word
    You can light up the dark.

    Try as I may, I could never explain
    What I hear when you don't say a thing.


    And the last line of the chorus going like this:

    You say it best...When you say nothing at all.


    While the song may be about love and the connection between two in love, what the song sings about is also true about the communication that happens between you, clients, colleagues and your employer.

    Just recall the times when you were part of a closely knitted team and you would realise that even when little is said among the team, a lot of productive work is achieved. And now, recall the times when you were part of a lousy team and you would also realise that even with a lot being said, nothing much is achieved.

    Why is this so?

    In the first example, there is a strong rapport and high level of communication among the team at the Unconscious and Emotional level. And because of this connection, the synergy among the team members is high and the level of understanding and support is amazing.

    And for the latter example, there is almost zero communication without the strong bridge of rapport. Everyone is communicating at the superficial level of just words and logic. There isn't much connection and chances are, everyone is trying to guess what the other is thinking...or not even bothered with what others are thinking.

    For any organisation, team and relationship to function at its optimal level, a strong Rapport must first be created before Communication can happen. Remember this, if there is any resistance in communication, FOCUS ON BUILDING RAPPORT FIRST!
